Most of us should know about the bukit antarabangsa tragedy by now, and its no surprise there are alot of comments on the incident.
Some see it as a tragedy. some see it as a punishment. Some people feel that the people deserved it. Some even feel that its just karma.
Well, no matter what it is, the fact is, its still a tragedy. No matter how much they deserved it or not, it really doesnt matter.
What matters is that shit can happen anytime. It doesnt take cancer or some plague to take your life away. One minute you could be at home watching porn and the next thing, your ceiling might collapse due to weak foundation on top.
As for me, i felt that the B. Antarabangsa incident is just another reminder that history repeats itself. I dont blame the people who bought the place .. If i had alot of money, What the heck! i might even buy it. Whats wrong about hillside bungalows? Had this incident not occur, im sure all those people out there whining about "they should have known " would very much the least consider on buying it as well. Hypocrites i would call them.
So what if they are BN or rich assholes?
That doesnt mean they deserve this sort of fate.
One thing that makes me feel sad is the news i heard about the "rescue workers" pillaging from the site.
How much lower can our society's moral values be?
Imagine your house is on fire, and the fireman runs to you instead of the burning building and ask for the location of your safe rather than the location of your 4 year old daughter who is still trapped in that building.
How would you feel?
However, from this incident we, or at least I have noticed one thing that actually scares me.
It seems that in Malaysia, Rich people are condemned.
Statements like "they are rich enough to buy the house , they dont need help" really scares me.
Does that mean i must never be rich in Malaysia?
There was a donation for the B.antarabangsa victims and alot of people responded by saying "they are so rich, 6.5 million house also can buy, dont need donate la."
What kind of attitude is this?
Yes they are rich, but dont they deserve the same kind of respect and sympathy as any people would after a tragedy despite rich or poor?
If you dont want to donate then thats it. Why add comments like "they are rich, they can settle themselves ,they BN people, they deserve it" ??
That is just the wrong attitude to even begin with.
SO if one day, an earthquake happens in sri hartamas, then i guess no one would even care.
Heck i guess the newspapers might as well dont publish the incident. Well, since its no big deal as the people there are rich and they can solve it.
The rescue workers dont even have to go, they are rich enough to hire their own private workers to help out.
Is that what's gonna happen?
Then that is indeed a really sad sad sad thing.
1 Comments:
a good perspective. no one is to say whether they deserve any help or not. but then, everyone has the right to choose. i was pointed to a blog which states that the "resident" of those bungalows were busy taking the cats, their dogs, their tennis racquet, their golf clubs when then needed to evacuate. when i read this, i dont feel like contributing to them no more. that will be my choice.
